Spurns Oracle LibreOffice, Apache Foundation will give OOo

Oracle announced a proposal of this week the OpenOffice.org (OOo) project to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) transfer. Set the move running under the umbrella of the Apache incubator program and transition of the project source code include too permissive Apache license. The proposal is being examined of the Apache incubator project management Committee, which has not yet a decision.

The OOo project fell into Oracle's hands, if the database giant acquired Sun. After, the long-standing complaints of the OOo community members addressing control of the project, not Oracle, who were dissatisfied mismanagement of the project with the Sun. The problems - related governance issues, copyright assignment policies and the difficulty of getting some code contributions merged - festered under Oracle's brief leadership of OOo.
